Making a Meaningful Difference
CLO’s Professional Family Teaching Model (PFTM) homes are a supported living arrangement where an individual, couple, or family share their home with a person with an intellectual or developmental disability (I/DD). PFTM arrangements closely replicate a private home experience to maximize the individual’s independence and quality of life. Providers are pre-screened, professionally trained, and carefully matched with an individual. Often, these arrangements flow from a previous relationship the provider has with an individual with needs. PFTM homes provide a safe, comfortable, and long term home environment that naturally fosters true community integration, consistent support, and opportunities for new learning skills
IT'S A LIFESTYLE CHOICEFamily-style living is one of the most attractive aspects of the PFTM. The family-style atmosphere, which is vital to PFTM, has a significant role in the care of people with support needs.

FAMILY TEACHING IS THE KEYProfessional Family Teachers are the program’s most valuable resource. It is critical that providers are not only screened, trained, and monitored but that they are respected, valued, and supported in all aspects of family life.

"Our professional family home is the perfect space for our extended family. What's makes it even more special is the fact that we have all contributed to making it comfortable, cozy and functional! Not just my husband and I but also our two young children and the two guys we've served for eight years have had a lot of input in how things are organized logistically and aesthetically. We've been blessed to live and grow together as a professional family in a wonderful neighborhood in a beautiful home, surrounded by friends, neighbors and a great support system." - Naunna Delgado (Professional Family Teacher) |
